Any student knows that with allocating time to study, work a part-time job, participate in extra-curriculurs and have a social life, shopping is the least of our priorities. So, in preparation for such a hectic routine, it’s important to have certain wardrobe essentials that can make our lives a tad bit easier.
So maybe this isn’t just a back to school post…because closet staples serve great purpose for all of us, regardless of whether we’re in school or heading back to work. Here are some key pieces that you’ll need to create most of your outfits for the year:
Black/White Tops: You definitely need these to pair with jeans or a pencil skirt. I always have my v-necks and crew necks for either a casual or fancy outfit.
Skinny Jeans: A cute pair of fitted skinnies in dark wash denim is an absolute must! Whether you want low or mid-rise should totally be up to you, as long as they fit perfectly (in other words, they make your butt look good).
Little Black Dress: The LBD is your go-to-piece for a day to night outfit. I have my black t-shirt dress that can be worn with a denim jacket and flats during the day, and a statement necklace and killer heels for the night.
Black or Navy Blazer: A blazer is an everyday essential for the working woman, but it is just as important for a student. Wear it with your skinny jeans, a scarf and high pony or a chic bun, and you’ll look campus ready in no time.
Leather Boots: My brown riding boots are my favourite pair of boots in my closet. Keep in mind that you can be a combat boot kind of girl and still consider them a key piece. I wear my boots in the Fall and Spring with almost all of my outfits; they work with everything!
P.S. If you think there are other key pieces that I haven’t mentioned in this Back to School post, keep an eye out for part 2 for more wardrobe essentials!
